Look, I don’t like to toot my own horn (okay, yesIdo) but why does food writing these days have to be so stuffy, self-possessed, and boring?
Moreover, why does it lack so many classic movie quotes?
Can’t we shed light on all that’s WRONG with today’s nutrition information, diet advice, and food system without being so very…tedious and self-important?
Don’t get me wrong, I love much of what today’s food activists and journalists have to say. I’ve learned a lot from it. Many times, it was the perfect cure for my insomnia.
But I decided it was time to start treating the topic of how we eat and why with some pep. Some humor. Some net sarcasm, for cryin’ out loud.
So I wrote Eat the Yolks. And tens of thousands of you have read it AND made it a best seller!
While this book IS named after one of my favorite activities, it’s not just about egg yolks. It’s about ALL the lies, naughty nonsense, and hilariously head-smack-worthy hijinks that made us forget what REAL FOOD really is in favor of processed “diet food” and other industrial junk.

  5. Just finished reading this book. What a wonderful source of information about eating real food! I was in total agreement with Liz’s statement about her “Paleo journey”. “The easy part was eating real food. The hardest part was realizing that I’d believed so many lies about the foods I ate every single day…”. I too have been on this journey and over and over again I have been outraged as I discover the truth about the food/diet industries and the lies we’ve been told. I am now in search of the truth about the food we eat and taking all that I learn to redirect my approach to eating and living. In this process I have lost 50 pounds and gained energy, clarity of thinking, and some really awesome sleep! Thank you, Liz, for bringing this information to those of us who are seeking the truth.
