If you’re looking for myth-busting information about food – and the TRUTH about all the garbage we’ve been “fed” over the years – I’ve got you. (I’ve got recipes, too!)
If you’re looking for well-researched, personally-vetted (I’ve tried everything) information about clean beauty – whether that means natural or scientifically-developed skincare that actually does what it promises, I’m on it.
If you’re looking for thoughtful perspectives on pregnancy, parenthood, and raising a family, from nutrition to birth to dealing with baby sleep, I’m here for you.
If you’re looking for a NEW approach to fitness – one that makes you feel like a badass-mother without beating you down – I’ve got you covered there, too. (Because moms are athletes!*)
*this includes moms of human children, plant moms, dog moms, moms-to-be, and the mom-curious!
If just one thing I post, publish, or podcast about food, beauty, family, fitness, or life is useful to you on your journey, I’m a happy camper.
When it comes to wellness, I’ve always been curious about where the truth actually lies. I’m passionate about bringing my investigative work – which has inspired the creation of research teams comprised of scientists, PhDs, and professionals to light my way – to you.
I’m a writer by trade: I wrote the Wall Street Journal best-seller Eat the Yolks, which tackles many of the lies we’ve been told about nutrition over the last 50 years (with plenty of pop culture references and tongue-in-cheek humor to make it fun).
Summary: properly-raised meats, whole plants, and YES, even fat, is what humans were meant to eat. Whether you call that a Paleo, Primal, or Real Food-based diet (who likes labels, anyway?) a flexible, general approach to eating whole, real food gets us pretty close to optimal.
I’ve became a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner in 2011, and I’ve used that knowledge base to work with individuals, companies, and nonprofits; I’ve also teamed up with multiple experts to develop several more books and programs that help get folks from where do I even begin to wow, I’ve got this:
Athletic Mom is my you’re a badass, let me help you feel like one program for moms who are ready to stop worrying about what they SEE in the mirror and start embracing what they can DO in LIFE (PS: if you’re a mom, you’re an athlete);
Baby Making and Beyond is my online fertility-pregnancy-birth course for parents, parents-to-be, and the parent-curious who want all the information they can get in the least overwhelming way possible;
The Purely Primal Skincare Guide is version 2.0 of my top-selling skincare guide for those who want to improve their skin – from the inside-out – naturally and for good. It even inspired the creation of several natural skincare brands! **The PPSC is currently under construction – keep an eye out for version 3.0!**
Liz Talks is my NEW podcast dedicated to all the things I’ve explored that haven’t made it into book or program form – from new treatments for anxiety, cultivating friendships in adulthood, sleep training (it’s not what you think), and much more.
I’m a mom of two living in the magical midwest with my dream husband and my two captivating daughters – one in toddlerhood, one in the decidedly pre-pre-preteen stage. One is named after her grandmothers, the other after an actress from The Mary Tyler Moore Show. (I am large; I contain multitudes.)
We’ve covered a lot of territory during the course of our marriage: military moves, a stint as farmer-homesteaders, and our current home on a tiny lake with a modern Mayberry feel. Up next: we’re adding a converted Sprinter van to the family!
A few other personal notes:
Over the years, I’ve realized that I have to experience things to understand them. (On that note, when I screw up, I screw up BIG: ask my parents what happened when they left town for a night when I was 17. Ever seen Can’t Hardly Wait?)
This is why most of my work grows out of personal experiences. I have been fully invested in everything I’ve created! My beliefs have been challenged, my commitment has been tested time and again – and it has made me a more compassionate, more well-rounded person. And, I hope, it has made me more useful to others as well.
I post about the personal stuff on Instagram – feel free to join me there, or listen to Episode 1 of my podcast, Liz Talks, for more about me!
My website is your home for lots of information about food (including favorite recipes), beauty, family, babies, fitness, and living a perfectly imperfect, mostly-healthy, sometimes-not-but-we-all-do-our-best lifestyle.
For the deep-divers, my website is also your portal to books and programs that were created in consultation and collaboration with scientists and experts. I’m passionate about and deeply respectful of the investigative process, and everything I create reflects that!
Finally, my Email Exclusives are here for you: if you don’t have time to search the site for updates, I’ll notify you directly when new posts and podcasts are released. You’ll also receive subscriber-only posts and a direct link to “ask me anything!”
