Liz’s updates: Eat The Yolks-ing, workshopping, Great Danes-ing, and eating all the food.

Liz’s updates give a glimpse into my most time-wasting thoughts and epic-ish adventures. Enjoy!

Last weekend was a whirlwind of incredible. For our last Balanced Bites Seminar, Diane and I went to Philadelphia to close out several years of workshopping at the same place where it all began: CrossFit Center City. That’s me, talkin’ bout Nutrition and Physical Degeneration.

Besides meeting a gaggle of amazing, phenomenal, fun people (some of whom drove HOURS UPON HOURS to be at the workshop, for which I’m gobsmacked and grateful) I got an amazing gift: the FIRST printed copy of my book, Eat the Yolks, was shipped to me directly from the printer so everyone could check it out!
Actually holding it in my hands was…surreal. I wrote this book. I. Wrote. It. The words still sound weird when I say them in my head.

Holding Eat the Yolks

Here’s a (grainy) video of the moment I held the book for the first time. (I highly recommend you open every much-anticipated package you get in front of an audience of supportive, cheering friends.)
If you can’t see the video, watch it on YouTube here.

Of course, after all that excitement, I had to go eat all the fresh, local food in Philadelphia. All. The. Food. In about a three-hour window.
Barbeque and pickles. Oysters. Brunch. Cuban food. Barbuzzo’s. And then I had a stomachache. But it was worth it.

Finally, I the icing on the cake: just before heading out, I got to freak out snuggle my pup’s bigger, giant, older brother-from-another-mother. Meet Maddox, who is the biggest, giantest, sweetest, gentle-est pooch in all of Philly. And probably, the world. (Thanks to Erin from CFCC for the Re-gram.)

That pup. The sweetest.
I had such an incredible, albeit incredibly brief, visit to Philadelphia. I’m so thankful!
So…what’dja do last weekend?
Thanks for reading!

  1. Spent my saturaday in Philly at the Balanced Bites Workshop, BEST! It was great to meet you in person. I truly am inspired by you both and to (finally) make the Evel Knievel sized career leap into the fitness/nutrition world. I had asked about a mysterious skin reaction after months of moisturizing with coconut oil your advise was stop using it (I should have picked up on that one) and you let me sample the tallow body cream you had with you. I did take a picture of the cream but cannot find the company name to order some. What company was it?
    PS Thank you

    1. It was so great to meet you! The cream was from BuffaloGalGrassFed.com (redirects to a different site, but it’s the same 🙂 They have lots of different types to choose from, several without coconut oil!

  2. Good for you for not freaking out more haha. I think I’M going to be AT LEAST that excited when I get it. Can’t wait to share it with family and friends and debunk all of the LIES that they believe…and aren’t doing them a lick of good!
