Heyyo! I’m Liz. Some call me “Real Food Liz.” (Either one works. But the second one takes longer to say.)

Welcome to my website, and my Cave Girl Eats blog!

I’m a Real Food lover, an amateur homesteader, a natural skincare enthusiast, and a published author. (That’s my book, below!) Most importantly, I’ve got goats.

Eat The Yolks by Liz Wolfe | realfoodliz.com

My story in a nutshell: I’m a city gal who went from CrossFit n’ Paleo to Farm Fit (seriously. It’s a workout.) n’ homesteading. After spending 4 years in New Jersey, the Husband, the Pooch, and I moved “back home” to a 15-acre homestead in the midwest. We’ve got goats, chickens, guinea fowl, stray puppies, and lots of crazy wildlife, and soon, 2 hogs.

We’re trying to be more sustainable and less stressed, and we’re working on producing as much of our own Real Food as possible.

More deets: I’m a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP™) certified by the Nutritional Therapy Association. I co-host the top-rated Balanced Bites podcast. I have a regular column in Paleo Magazine. I created the Skintervention Guide, based around my experiences healing longstanding skin issues.

I’ve been rockin’, rollin’ and bloggin’ here since 2010, and I live (and eat) by my food philosophy: Nutrition in 100 Words. It’s a mix of the best of the Paleo and Primal  diets, and of course, common sense. Short story: I eat Real Food. Food that has ALWAYS been food!

This blog is not a “Manifesto.” It’s not a rigid, uncompromising place built around dietary judgment or pass/fail food ideals. There are no “rules” here – only information (and plenty of aimless blather). I am constantly learning and seeking, and I’m willing to adopt new views as wisdom guides me. There’s an exceedingly small chance that I’ve been wrong once or twice. (Don’t tell Husband I said so.)

I’ve broken food neuroses, diet obsessions, and completely changed my health through the food principles I advocate. I explain more on my “What’s Paleo?” page. It’s not about dieting. It’s about knowledge, taking control, and overall, balance. And also, eating the egg yolks. Always.

I want everyone to know it’s possible, it’s easy, it’s FUN, it’s makes sense to eat and live with the ideas of the Paleo/Primal/Real Food movements in mind. Our bodies are designed to be healthy and vibrant when we fuel ourselves right. The biggest challenge is working through all the myths and bullgarbage we’ve been spoon-fed for years about food and health – which is why I wrote my book!

Living this way is all about gratitude – loving and appreciating the amazing foods that are provided for us on this incredible planet. The foods that are proven to keep us balanced and healthy.

Thanks for being here!
