Diet or drugs? This report has it wrong.

A quote from this video, which takes me from wildly enthusiastic and encouraged to absolutely dumbfounded with the thought processes of our pharmaceutical-driven world in about five seconds:
“But the researchers are quick to point out that what happened to the mice does not mean that people with kidney disease should switch to a high-fat diet, which could cause other health problems.” (Obligatory photos of butter, hamburger, and bacon…)

“We don’t want to put anyone on the (high-fat) diet itself, we just wanna figure out how the diet works so that we can replicate the effects of the diet in a drug.” (at 5:47)

  1. I saw the exact same sentiment in the video where Dr. Newport drastically improves her husband’s Alzheimer’s symptoms by feeding him coconut oil in his morning oatmeal. He makes this amazing turnaround, and then near the end of the video we see researchers attempting to replicate the effects in a drug. Forget feeding anyone the real deal! What kind of madness is that? *facepalm*

  2. What a great video! It’s good to see that science/medicine is slowly revealing our current diseases to a shift in our diets. But yeah.. sucks they didn’t suggest anyone eat a fat-powered diet. Clearly they just want to make some money out of a “miracle drug” again.
Hippocrates had it down: “Let food be thy medicine, and medicine be thy food.”

  3. So exciting and yet so frustrating!!
Jimmy Moore (livinlavidalowcarb.com) has a 2-part interview with Dr. Charles Mobbs on his site. One of the first statements that the Dr makes is that he has been focusing on creating a pharmaceutical alternative to a ketogenic diet.
    Money, money, money.

  4. Are you telling me that you DON’T want to take a pill and follow it up with a bunch of fake food filled with delicious sugar and additives? Girl, you crazy.

  5. Really a microcosm of everything that is wrong with the pharmaceutical industry: “Don’t change your diet and make yourself better naturally, just take this pill.” And someone will buy it…they always do.
